WRRA's visually impaired rowers to compete in prestigious Head of the Charles regatta

Congratulations and good luck to our VIPER (Visually Impaired People Enjoying Rowing) crew, heading to Boston October 20-21 to race in the 54th Head of the Charles Regatta.

EHVZBHAZ4FH35HPF45VPZTRQJE.jpgFour years ago, Western Reserve Rowing Association (WRRA) began offering visually impaired athletes the opportunity to enjoy the fun and challenging sport of rowing.

Today, that same program - aka The VIPERs (Visually Impaired People Enjoying Rowing) - have gone from their humble beginnings on the Cuyahoga River to qualifying for the largest rowing regatta in the world, the Head of the Charles (HOCR) in Boston, MA. On October 20-21, 11,000 athletes from 26 countries will compete and amongst them will be the VIPERs!

The VIPERs are part of WRRA's Outreach Programs and are funded entirely by members and donations. Volunteers have given over 450 hours of their time helping to coach, row and cox in this program.

We are asking for additional help to get the crew of 7 adults (guides, rowers, coach & coxswain) and 2 guide dogs to Boston to vie for a coveted medal in this prestigious competition. 100% of monies raised will go directly towards the VIPER team's preparation for the regatta, travel, trailering the boat, and lodging.
