Intermediate Rowing Program

Canceled for 2020 due to COVID-19

This program is for rowers who wish to row twice a week, improve their technical rowing skills and fitness level.

This 15-week rowing program includes two (2), 90-minute coached on-the-water practices per week. Participants will row in 4-person and 8-person shells. Rowers will also be expected to participate in limited erg testing to assess rowing fitness.

Intermediate Rowing is open to all experienced sweep rowers who have completed a minimum of two years of WRRA summer and fall programs, or equivalent.  

This program may serve as the next step towards preparing to participate in the more intensive Masters Competitive program. The Intermediate crews will also have the opportunity to race, if desired, in select out-of-town regattas during the summer. Note, program costs do not cover regatta fees. Please refer to the Intermediate Rowing Program Guidelines for more specific information. 

Enrollment is limited to ensure close personal attention by the coaching staff.

  • Wednesday 6:00 - 7:30 p.m; Saturday 10:30 a.m. – Noon
    Times listed above are LAUNCH times. Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior to practice time in order to prepare equipment and meet with your team.


Each year, WRRA sends competitive men's and women's crews to as many as a dozen away regattas during the spring, summer and fall. Competing against other club crews can be a rewarding experience and a great way to test your skills as a rower. Away regatta participation is open to any WRRA member with more than one year of rowing experience and/or Head Coach recommendation.

Program Cost 

Program costs include coaching and coxswain fees.  

  • Intermediate Rowing program package $502
    (includes WRRA general membership, Summer General Sweeps fee & Summer seasonal facility assessment)
  • Performance and Summer Sweeps Fee ONLY $194
    (applicable only to rowers who have also enrolled in SRL)
  • Registration in Performance Rowing automatically includes summer enrollment in the General Sweeps program. Individuals who wish to row after August 31, 2020, must enroll in a fall program.
  • Sales tax (8%) plus a $1.25 convenience fee will be added to each transaction.  Other registration service provider fees are included in the program cost.
