Intermediate Rowing Program

For Experienced Rowers

This year the Performance and Recreational programs have been merged into one.

Program Overview:

This program is for rowers who wish to row twice per week and improve their technical rowing skills and fitness level. Participants will row in 4-person and 8-person shells.

  • Minimum Experience: Experienced sweep rowers who have completed a minimum of two previous WRRA rowing league sessions, or equivalent.
  • Duration: 12-weeks from May 26 through August 14, 2021
  • Practices: Two 90-minute coached practices per week held on Wednesday evenings at 6pm and Saturday mornings at 9am
  • Coach/Rower Ratio: Enrollment will be limited to ensure close personal attention by the coaching staff. Each coach will be responsible for no more than two (2) crews during practice.
  • Lineups/Pods: The coach will develop the crew lineups/pods based on the rowers’ technical abilities and fitness level. The coach may utilize erg testing to assess rower’s fitness level and to evaluate a rower’s progress throughout the season.
  • Optional Regattas: Crews have the opportunity to race, if desired, in select out-of-town regattas during the summer. Program costs do not cover regatta fees.
  • Shell CleaningAll members must also follow the Shell Cleaning Procedures after each practice.

This program may serve as the next step towards preparing to participate in the more intensive Masters Competitive program.
